Riley's night and an Alayna day

Last week, the third grade class was invited to the Parent-teacher fellowship to show off what they have been learning. They just finished a unit on American Presidents in History class and had to memorize the Presidents IN ORDER! It was an accomplishment and let me tell you I feel like I know so much more after helping him study! They recited them from George Washington all the way through Barak Hussain Obama without missing a beat!
And, Tuesdays and Thursdays have started to become affectionately referred to as "Alayna Days" because she is home with me all by herself these two days every week and we try to do fun girlie stuff together! We are working our way through "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons", we paint fingernails and toenails, she gets to watch a movie when I run on the treadmill, and she chooses whatever she wants for lunch (within reason). Today, she dragged out the face painting set we got for Halloween (thanks Grammy Sharon!) and wanted me to paint her something on her face. WELL, lets just say we compromised. I am NO artist, so this is what she ended up with, much to her delight!
I know you are completely stunned by my drawing skills, and I know you are all wishing you could have something so cool on your ankle, but you will just have to come for a visit if you want to be one of my subjects!!

Awwww...that is so precious. I love 'mommy and me' time. She will treasure that time forever and I am sure you will too.

Way to go, Riley!! We are proud of you! What an accomplishment.

Hey, Alayna and Mom,

What fun to have mom and me days two times a week without any "boy" stuff to contend with. You were just a totally painted up lady with your fingernails, toenails, and beautiful ankles. I love the outcome and perfect detail to color. Thanks for sharing. You two are just having too much fun.

Loving you both,
G. and P. P.

Riley, what an awesome job on the presidents' names from way back to George Washington. I can't even do that Riley, you are so very smart. Great photo also with reciting and holding our American flag. Keep up the great work and study hard.

Love and hugs,
G. and G. P.

I'm sure she just relishes the girl time and Mollie would be insanely jealous of the ankle painting but I won't let her see!

I was just on trying to figure out how far away you guys are from Boca Raton because we'll be there for a couple days next week for Matthew's work. Unfortunately it looks like it's about 3 1/2 hours and Matthew only has one evening free. He promised Abby we would take a trip to Florida when she's
six, so that's only a year away. It would be so fun to come down and see you sometime!
